Cardinal Tetra vs. Neon Tetra

Which one is more colorful? I want 20 of one species in my tank but I want the more colorful one. I don't care if Cardinals are more fragile than Neons, I'm ready for them.

RE: Cardinal Tetra vs. Neon Tetra

color wise i think they are about equal, the cardinals are generally more impressive because of their larger size.  however if given the proper conditions, the neons will grow to the same size as the cardinals you see for sale.  and yes you are correct, neons are not as demanding as the cardinals.  my vote is for the neons.
To the logician all things should be seen exactly as they are. Any attempt at modesty is as much of an untruth as an exaggeration of ones ability.

RE: Cardinal Tetra vs. Neon Tetra

The color on the cardinals is overall deeper, and the red stripe extends the full length of the body (only halfway on the neon tetra). I would limit it to 12-15 cardinals in a tank this size, as they are substantially larger as adults.

RE: Cardinal Tetra vs. Neon Tetra

Cardinals like warmer water, too: closer to 80, making them frequent tankmates to Discus.

Neons like cooler temps, making them more appropriate for tanks housing cories and angels.

Sorry dude.

Both are beautiful to me. Depends on what temperature the tank is and its water conditions.

I like the cardinal tetra better, more colors and less white.

Do Cardinals really look streached out though?

No, the shape is very similar between the two.
