Known for being alert, hardy and tame, this type of lizard makes for a great pet. They get their name from the beard-like appearance of the spiny skin under their throats.

Check out the fun facts below about bearded dragons to learn more.

Fear the Beard
Bearded dragons get their name from the ability to puff out the skin under their throats, which darkens to resemble a beard. In addition to flaring out their "beard," they can open their mouth to reveal a bright yellow interior that also helps scare off predators.

4 Foods Fit for a Dragon
Bearded dragons are omnivores, which means they like to eat both plants and insects.

  • Mealworms
  • Crickets
  • Leafy Vegetables
  • Fruits

Soaking up Some Rays
Beardies like to spend 10-12 hours per day basking, which means lying in a warm spot under the sun or a full-spectrum heat lamp. Their habitat thermal gradient should be somewhere between 70–100° F.

Long Live Beardies
With a spacious, temperature-controlled habitat, balanced meals and proper car, your bearded dragon can thrive for 10+ years.

Beardies Make a Great Mate, Mate!
Due to their curious nature and social personality, bearded dragons are very popular reptilian pets. They are typically docile and relatively easy to handle, which makes them a good choice for a first-time lizard parent.

Hi GuineasHedgies. Thank you for your question; the Meet the Critter events are typically from 1 - 3 PM, although times may vary slightly from store to store. I recommend calling your local store to confirm, you can find their number here. We hope to see you there!

I am so bummed. I had to put my beardy down last month. She was my baby, I even had a picture of her tattooed on my arm. I am finally ready to get another one and just ordered stuff on your website today. I am replacing my stuff in the tank just incase my .beardy had something wrong with her. I wont be able to get one till the end of the though because we are going on vacation and my husband said to wait till we get back. Then I see you are having 50% off on them. Is there anyway I could get this coupon to work for me for when I get back?? PLEASE... cause I have no one to take care of it right now.
