I’m looking into purchasing a parakeet. I want the bird as a companion but seeing as though I am at work for 6 hours Monday through Friday, I’m concerned the bird will feel neglected and stressed out. If I spend all my free time with the bird should it be okay or should I consider buying another bird to keep it company when I am at work?

Re: parakeet

Hi, AddygWelcome to the Petco  Community and thank you for your question. This would be a personal decision you would want to think about. If you plan on spending a lot of time with your birdie that's wonderful. You may also consider getting your bird a mate. Check out our Parakeet care sheet for more advice. Here is some great information on owning birds for some tips. Best wishes!
